What is ACT?
ACT is a flexible model for therapy and coaching that has been widely used throughout the world for the past 30 years since its development by psychologist Dr Steven Hayes. ACT aims to maximise human potential and help people live rich and meaningful lives even in the face of difficulties and challenges. It does this through the cultivation of psychological flexibility and the innovative use of personal values to guide committed action.
Being a proven model that delivers benefits, it is used as part of the NHS therapy matrix. Over recent decades, ACT has developed a strong evidence base, and to date, there are over 3,000 studies supporting the model’s effectiveness.
